Dr. Maroon’s favorite bread recipe (taken from Dana Carpender’s 1001 Low-Carb Recipes.)
It is easy, tastes great, and the family loves it. Check out the protein/carb ratio: 24/4! Wow!
1 c (240ml) water
¼ c (25g) oat bran
2 Tbsp (22g) psyllium husks
¾ c (75g) vital wheat gluten
½ c (64g) vanilla whey protein powder
1/3 c (40g) rice protein powder
1 tsp salt
1 Tbsp (15ml) oil
1 Tbsp (1.5g) Splenda
2 tsp yeast
Put the ingredients into your bread machine in the order given and run the machine. When finished, promptly remove the loaf from the machine and bread case to cool.
Yield: About 10 slices
Each with 5g of carbohydrates and 1g of fiber, for a total of 4g of usable carbs and 24 grams of protein.
